Accordingly, such a technique requires an extra step for reading out the X-ray image from the imaging plate and converting the X-ray image thus read out into digital information. This is disadvantageous in that the data readout time is long.

The electrical signals thus converted are read out by thin film transistors (TFTs) in increments of pixels. After each electrical signal thus read out is converted into a current signal, the current signal thus converted is then converted into a digital signal.
